Breastfeeding Support Group

N

Online breastfeeding mothers group – This is a mother to mother support group which through information, education and support, encourages a confident and positive approach to newborn mothering and breastfeeding.  .

“I never realized how important it was to be around other new mothers – until I had my baby.  Not everyone understands the breastfeeding mother and how hard it can be sometimes.  A huge plus is the convenience of meeting online so there is no need to drive to a group.  There is nothing better than getting to know other moms who all know exactly how you feel.  Having an experienced IBCLC educating and supporting us is very helpful too”

As a lactation consultant in private practice, Lori J. Isenstadt, IBCLC will provide the mother with a visual and hands on breastfeeding assessment.  Lori will listen to your concerns, assess baby’s oral anatomy, your breast anatomy, and observe latch.  A full feeding will be observed. During this feeding, latch and positions adjustments will be made as necessary with mother having plenty of opportunity to practice latching her baby on. While your baby is feeding, questions will be answered regarding normal newborn breastfeeding behavior. Once feeding is complete, Lori will measure intake at breast using a Medela Baby Weigh scale.  Based on observations noted during this consult, a written care plan will be given for moms to take home and refer to.  The visit with the lactation consultant typically lasts 1 – 1 ½ hours.

Mothers generally feel a sense of relief knowing that they have met with an experienced professional who will be working with them to correct their breastfeeding problems.  Typically any pain they have been suffering with, is greatly reduced by the end of their initial consult.  The lactation consultant will give the mother a care plan which will further reduce their pain over a short time.

Mothers leave a consult feeling assured and confident in their ability to breastfeed their baby.  They receive consistent, current and evidence based research regarding breastfeeding.  Please see link for testimonials to read what other mothers have stated about their consult.

Once home with a new baby, parents often have numerous questions related to breastfeeding.  Parents are encouraged to bring a list of written questions, which will be discussed during the course of the consult.  The consult provides an excellent opportunity for you to receive current information in a relaxed atmosphere.
Lori knows that mothers are most successful when they are able to receive continued help for a short time after the initial consult. For this reason, you are strongly encouraged to take full advantage of the excellent follow-up opportunities offered.  Your case will remain open for 2 weeks after your initial consult. During this time you can call or email Lori for additional follow-up questions and to report progress. Approximately  85% of the problems are fixed in less than 2 weeks.  If you require additional help after 2 weeks, Lori will recommend that you schedule a follow-up appointment.
A comprehensive report of your consult will be sent to your doctor, upon your request only.  This will enable your doctor to be kept informed of your initial concern and of your progress.

What  people are saying about Lori J. Isenstadt, IBCLC

“Lori is truly the Mercedes in the breastfeeding community 🙂 Lori was there on day 2 of my baby girl’s life. She asked me to demonstrate the feeding that my baby and I were sharing. After a close watch she suggested a change. That change saved both my breasts from pain and my baby from starvation! Lori will be there right after delivery for my future child”

“I would highly recommend Lori to anyone struggling with breastfeeding. Lori was extremely informative and made me feel comfortable and confident that we could improve our situation. She answered all my questions and made sure to follow up after the appointment with helpful information and videos. Thank you Lori!”

...M.C.R

“I didn’t think I needed to take a breast feeding class because breast feeding is so natural. My doctor recommended Lori’s class to me and I’m glad she did. My husband and I had a one on one class/meeting due to my husbands crazy work schedule. Lori was super nice and made us feel so comfortable and answered any silly questions I had. She taught us tons, things I wouldn’t have even thought of. It was well worth the time and money!”
