Episode 35 Lori talks about the little pill that has been brought up in quite a few shows so far

In all the episodes I have done so far, there are at least 2 specific subjects that have come up quite frequently.

I have not expanded on either one during the individual shows because it could really get us side-tracked and make it difficult for me to get back to all the info I want my guest to be able to share with you.

As a Lactation Consultant, who has a keen interest in all things related to breastfeeding, I have a natural curiosity about mothers of different generations and whether or not they breastfed and how they felt about breastfeeding, what they were taught about breastfeeding, what they think about their daughters or daughter in laws breastfeeding.

One part of our medical health history that I find most physicians are not asking us is:

Were we breastfed?

I am often asked: Is there any heart,  thyroid or liver disease or diabetes in my families history. I am also asked if there is a family history of  cancer, or smokers and is it on the maternal or paternal side of the family. I have never once been asked if I was breastfed.  It is well documented the health benefits that breastfeeding gives to the mother that is breastfeeding and to her children that she is breastfeeding. We also know it is important information when asking about breastfeeding to find out if the breastfeeding was exclusive? It is also important to ask for how long?
